Brawny Built / Born Free 5

This years Born Free 5 was my first regarding motorcycle shows. It's basically an invite of select influential bike builders from around the world. It seemed more like a motorcycle apparel and accessories tradeshow with the bike show itself as a side note. There was live music, food vendors, and a bunch of vendor booths throughout the show. It took us about 3 hours to get into the show because the traffic was so bad. There were hundreds of hipster motorcycle riders passing us by as we sat still in traffic. We even saw a guy who parked his truck on the side of the road and had his his full drum set out while he played for everyone in traffic! Once we finally parked and started making our way into the show all you could see was a sea of people and vendor tents. It was crazy hot and super dusty. We pretty much made our way to The Speed Merchant and Brawny Built tent and remained there for the entire show. We wasted no time in firing up the grill and getting down to business. Wanted to make sure that all the hungry people in Brawny's crew got to sample some SXA BBQ and were stoked. Quite a few of the people in our area were from Hawaii some who moved to the mainland and some who flew in for the show. We had our own little Hawaii community going on! Oblow and Kingman were hanging out with the crew. A bunch of rad people came through our village including veteran skateboard legends Steve Olson and Jason Jessee. Len from Onimotorworks had Jensen and Buddah fly in from Hawaii to help finish off his build. Jeff Goo drove down from Las Vegas. Even my homie Kaboe who used to live in Hawaii for a number of years came to hangout. Met a bunch of rad people, drank a bunch of beer, and almost had a heat stroke. Most importantly we got to be there to support Brawny and Len and have a good time doing it!

Brawny's build for this years BF5 won "Best in Competition". Congrats Brawny! Fresh off our flight from Hawaii we grabbed a few drinks and went straight to the Brawny Built shop only to find that he and his boys were hard at work trying to wrap things up in order to get this bike to the show by 12pm the next day. The motor came all the way from Marco's shop (Mach Modified) in New York were it was hopped up and sent back to Long Beach just in time for the show!

Len Higa of Onimotorworks BF5 Build. This bike came out sick! According to Jensen of HRDLCK they had a couple of sleepless nights fueled by beer working on this one!

Cycle Zombies x Dice Magazine Release at Stance

On June 21st 2014 the Shakas and Alohas Ohana posted up at the Stance HQ for a little BBQ / Motorcyles / Skateboarding event for the Cycle Zombies x Dice  release party. It was a pretty crazy event and all though we spent the majority of the time behind the hot smoky grill, we did manage to catch a quick glimpse of what was going on right behind our backs inside the Stance HQ!

I tried to get up there to check out the bowl but it was too crowded and I only made it half way up the stairs. I heard that Kyle Yanagimoto was putting on a demo up there that's why!!!

This is Stance's NBA regulation size basketball court. Today they're using it to display some of the motorcycles that the Cycle Zombies chose to participate in their show with Dice and Stance.

The big piece on the wall was freshly installed about a week before the show by artist Zio Ziegler.

Brawny's Mako stood out amongst all the vintage styled choppers that were on display.

Stance utitilzed every inch of space in their HQ with big packing containers. Upstairs provides a clear view of everything going on below as well as doubles as office space.

Big Scott Stopnick working on his swing at the Stance golf simulator. For those of you who golf, Stance just started a golf line as well. They're doing ground breaking things merging fashion with function for those golfers out there who want to add fun to their game!

Mahalo to Scotty and the Stopnick Ohana as well as Stance for having Shakas and Alohas out to BBQ local style for their event. We had a great time and hope to do it again soon!

SXA Pupu Kine BBQ at Kapolei

"Pupu Kine" is a term Braddah Marlon came up with. It means a small unorganized BBQ with whatever you have at home in the fridge or your kitchen cabinets that can be BBQ'd within minutes and goes good with a cold beer. Today we had "pupu kine" BBQ with Portuguese sausage, hot dogs, kielbasa sausage and some zucchini. Perfect snack after a sesh and right before going home to eat dinner!

Sister's BBQ

This was our last night of the Sanya trip so we wanted to have the BBQ experience with the boys to end our trip in Sanya right. Sister's BBQ is located on the beach in the touristy city side of Sanya. There's rows of BBQ Cary's all set up along the beach for as far as you can see. All the fresh seafood and veggies are on the menu so you just chose and one of the ladies BBQ's it up for you. Throw in a couple bottles of cold beer and pau!
