Bitchin' Party at Dixie Long Beach
The "Bitchin' Party" was a skate event set up by Russ Pope from Transportation Unit, the Stopnick's from the Cycle Zombies, and Jon Tubbs from Dixie Long Beach. The event took place out in the back of Dixie's parking lot where there were a ton of skateboarders attacking the worlds longest parking block. I believe Russ said it was four parking blocks joined together painted and sauced to make up for one hell of a slappy or railslide! At each end there was a quarter pipe but I noticed everyone was just taking a running start so they could attempt to make it from one end to the other of the parking block. Aside from that there was a bbq going on, beer in a bath tub, motorcycles, Stack Aly DJ'ing the event, and The Black Tibetans playing inside Dixie. It was a pretty good vibe and good group of people in attendance which made for a pretty fun evening!
| Guys were going nuts on the curb. This is what it looked like on the right side of the parking lot. |
| And here's what it looked like on the left side. This was early on in the evening, an hour or so later the parking lot was completely packed with skaters trying to conquer the entire thing! |

Russ Pope at Good Life Gallery Tattoo Shop
Russ is in Hawaii for a couple weeks with his family for a little vacation as well as with Vans for the Triple Crown of Surfing. We got in a skate sesh at Kapolei with Russ along with some Thai food before heading to get him hooked up with a tat at Goodlife Gallery Tattoo Shop in Mililani. Ryan Chun (owner) of the first tattoo shop in Mililani Town hooked Russ up with this original Nat Russell "Curb Dog" piece. If your out to get some ink done check out Ryan and support a skater owned tattoo shop.

SXA family and friends @ Russ Pope's Artshow
This past Friday Dec. 9th 2011 the Blue Hawaii Gallery in Kalihi featured the artwork of Russ Pope entitled "Tiny Bubbles". Outside in the parking lot SXA had a small kine bbq pupu style along with some cold beverages to wash it all down. The great thing about having these shows at Kalihi is the coming together of family and friends who you haven't seen in awhile all together in one spot. For some it was their first time to a show up at the gallery and for others they already knew what to expect...goodtimes! Mahalos to Russ for coming together with Blue Hawaii to put on this show, Liam for helping with the setup and steady supply of Starbucks, also to Marlon for the BBQ, Kingman for hooking up Stance socks for everyone, Ian for supplying all the box wine one could drink!, the crew over at Vans for all the BBQ's one could handle for a week, Julien and Cardiel for riding their fixies all the way from Chun's on the North Shore to Kalihi in the rain!!! and all my fam and good friends who showed up and helped make this a memorable event. Until next time Aloooohaaaa!!!
